Buttons, Band-Aids, and What Moms Do

Mom is gone… Now it’s up to me to figure out what to do with her things. I was in her room today, going through her shelves, and found her sewing box. Inside the sewing box, I found an item I had been describing to my daughter for some years now. When Laura was little, she started a button collection, and she went to Micheal’s to make a box to put the buttons in. I told her back then, “what you really need is a Band-Aid box.”

For the longest time, I thought extra buttons went into the Band-Aid box. Well, back when I was little, it more more like a tin.

Mom kept buttons in the Band-Aid tin.

Yes, this is where Mom kept the buttons. My sister admitted to me today she did the same, she put her extra buttons in a Band-Tin, well, because mom did.

Not sure why, as a little girl, this seemed a perfect and magical place for buttons.

Linda went on to tell me a story about a woman who cut her roasts in half before she put them into the oven. She did it because her mom did it. Later she learned the reason her mom did that, her mom’s roasting pan was small. Cute.

What do YOU do because your Mom did it?
