Cafe Mocha and Shirley

Our first full day back in Perth, and we knew we would have to do some shopping. We needed food and firstly, we needed a filter for our water pitcher. (I can’t drink water straight from the tap).

So we went to the shops to also add minutes on my phone and pick up a water filter as well as look for a new toaster.

Being jet lagged, HOT, and tired, I had in mind to get an iced cafe mocha. Other times, I had gone to the same place, and they only had on their menu “Iced Coffee.” So each time I went, I would ask, “Could you make mine an Iced Cafe Mocha?” Each time they would do it, and make it JUST the way I liked it. I told John several times, “You just wait, Cafe Mocha will soon be on the menu.”

Today when we went, I asked them, “Can you make me an iced cafe mocha?” But I spoke too hastily, for there on the menu was now Cafe Mocha!

Feeling a bit responsible for this change in menu, I quick grabbed my phone to take a photo of their creation before I drank it all gone!

But yet another surprise awaited us. There at the table, waving to us, was our neighbor Shirley. A sweet woman, who recently lost her husband, we don’t see her as much as I would like, well mostly because she is surrounded by loving people always taking her out and about!

So I gave John the phone to take a photo. Sweet lady is always inviting me for tea. For today's outing, she had a colorful group of ladies telling us all stories of their escapades in the U.S. and one of them telling John off for not moving there. Cute.
