Family Vacation: First Stop – Ithaca, New York

The planning stages for the whole family to go to Upper New York State began, I think, when we came back from our last trip to the Finger Lakes area. That pretty much sums up how much we love the natural beauty in that part of the state.

It’s about a 5 hour trip from Maryland. We were past due for a stop, but had settled to take a break in Ithaca, where we had driven through before and all of us thought it was a cute and interesting place to lunch.

College town
Ithaca is a college town to Cornell University, what was noticeable at once were the cute houses having many rooms to rent.
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ithaca New York
Laura had already decided on a place to eat; walking in the opposite direction took us to see some lovely churches in Ithaca. Here is the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, built in 1898, it has 21 stained glass windows honoring Saints.
St Catherine's Greek Orthodox
Right across the street is St. Catherine’s Greek Orthodox church. The building was built in 1884, but they’ve only started having services at this location in 1967.
Churches of Ithaca
We soon realized that we were walking in the wrong direction, so we turned around, and I took in the view of the two churches, a nice distraction for my hungry tummy.

Laura chose Luna’s Inspired Street Food for our late lunch.
EAT at Luna's Street Food
I don’t think we really needed to be told to EAT.
