John’s 60th Birthday Party

Georgie, John’s sister, gave him his 50th Birthday party, so when she suggested she do the 60th, it seemed right.

Initially I had thought to have John’s birthday at the Perth Zoo, but the expense of renting a place was just too much, so Georgie and I went with a Zoo theme instead.

She and I had done some things behind the scenes, but I was amazed how she transformed her house when we arrived on the big day.

feeding time

We had previously decided that dinner would be at 6, but she so cleverly called it, “feeding time!”

She had zoo animals at her 'zoo entrance.'

Noah's ark

Kinda resembled Noah’s Ark, too, the way she had them in twos. 🙂

Georgie also had leftover decorations from her 60th!

Jukebox

Georgie had the player and I brought the music. (I had songs like “At The Zoo”, “When I’m 64”, and lots of Beatles for John).

carousel balloon

Almost last minute Georgie found the carousel balloon, which has animals for our theme, plus Perth Zoo has a carousel.

Next as I walked around before guests arrived, I saw that she had indeed put 'animals' in 'cages' along with signs, just like a zoo. That koala might be up a tree somewhere still.

Big cats, and that monkey in the tree were so precious!

polar bear

It was a hot day for that poor polar bear!

As I am snapping away going around the house, I see Georgie in the kitchen. I don't think I had ever seen her at work in there before :)

Here is John's cake. Pretty sure I confused Baskins & Robbins Australia, asking for a zoo cake, more like something a 6 year old would have not a 60 year old!

Georgie got these real original candles too!
