Opening Day, Maryland Zoo

It used to be called the Baltimore Zoo, but the news is that due to some mismanagement, it is now the Maryland Zoo.

Today was opening day and everyone got in free. I took the girls for a fun day.

We had a wonderful time in spite of many animals missing. I have a feeling that the zoo is in a state of transition with the changes. Gone was the tiger, the snow leopard, the flamingoes, and those adorable prarie dogs we’re used to seeing when we go to the zoo.

Today’s visit, the leopard, for me, was the star of the show. Perhaps the cold windy March air had him frisky. At first, he was hidden, and we waited a long time. Finally I called, “Here Kitty” and he immediatedly appeared.

I am putting together some of the photos of our day, HERE.

I love going to the zoo…I was born and raised in Philadelphia, and went to the
Philly zoo countless times. In fact, the Philly zoo is the first zoo in the
United States. Glad you all had a good time.
