Then and Now…

A little girl, asked where her home was, replied, “where mother is.”
~Keith L. Brooks

My little girl isn’t so little anymore, and while I am happy as can be she is still with me, it amazes me that even under my watch, how the changes come so fast.

One such change was recent, she declared she wanted her room completely redecorated. How could that be, I thought? We had it decorated very victorian, mauve, and very GIRLY!

Her first idea was to paint it black. I didn’t panic, but I thought she might regret that idea down the road.
After some discussion, black was modified to grey.

As you can see it was a perfectly lovely room. The remodeling is still underway, but here is the new look:

A few childhood items still exist, likely out of respect from her yaya making this growing up collection. But they sit right next to her vase of black roses. 🙂

Great job! I remember that room! It was yours! I had more time
than you, when Krystal turned 16 she was in England with her
cousins for a stay on the beach in France. I consuted with her
before she left and while she was gone totally redid her room. (it
still had the teddy bears from the nursery years, she loved stuffed
animals, so the teddy bears fit) Any way she went from pastels to a
deep apple green with a jungle border with the big cats, like
tigers, leopards, and cougars. While she was lounging on the beach
I was slaving in her room. I told my husband if I ever decided I
could take on such a project again, he had my permission to take
out and shoot me! She loved it when she got home, I was pretty
proud myself how nice it turned out, but brother was it ever hard
    work!
