Memorial Day with the Grandchildren

Memorial Day was a tiny bit different this year. We did the usual, going to Kinder Farm Park with our Church Picnic.

This year, instead of taking photos of the adult activities, I spent most of it with Silas and Rubi..

At the picnic, someone put bubbles on the tables. Rubi watches as mama shows her how to blow bubbles.

Rubi is excited to try it herself.

First tries not much happens.

Soon enough she had some success.

Later she wiped daddy’s face.

It was a hot day, so the shade of two mulberry trees was most welcome. Rubi watches as the boys start to climb one.

Even though one of the boys was very friendly the day before at church, neither seem very happy to have a girl climb the tree with them.

So Rubi joins Silas in the other mulberry tree.

Silas didn’t want to share the space very well, either.

*sigh* It’s hard being the only girl among all those boys, isn’t it Rubi? Meanwhile she just posed for me and looked adorable. I love this photo of her!

The boys soon switched gears and played with the mulberries that had fallen on the table.

Then it was time to check out the farm animals. They all liked the piggies.

Rubi climbed on some hay for a closer look.

The sheep were very loud today. Rubi liked their sounds and tried to copy them.

Silas timidly tries to make a friend. The sheep seemed to be begging for attention.

They were hard for Rubi to resist.

Emily points out something to Rubi.

Kelly shared a ball which made Rubi very happy!
